Brit’s autobiography is 2016’s best book
THE Royal Automobile Club has named Brian Redman: Daring Drivers, Deadly Tracks as its motoring book of the year for 2016.
The book (above) – reviewed in Issue 1,415 – follows Brit Redman’s career through various sports car and single-seater racing championships.
Judges were impressed by the book’s readability, calling it “funny and poignant”. After the event, Redman said he was “thrilled and delighted”.

Build DIY PIN with smart immobiliser
THERE are only so many ways you can outfox car thieves, but the new Ghost Immobiliser aims to offer a new security method.
It’s essentially a Pin-based car immobiliser, which uses existing buttons in the vehicle, such as dash and door-mounted switches, to create a unique code. A sequence of up to 20 inputs can be programmed in. There’s also an iphone application available to bypass this.
Classic cars line up for New Year’s bash
IF you haven’t overdone the New Year’s Eve celebrations, head to Bournemouth for the annual Classic Cars on the Prom New Year’s Day bash.
Despite the name, it’s held in a car park adjacent to AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium this year, and is open to any car built before August 1983. Display times are between 11am and 2pm, and the organisers predict around 150-200 cars will be on show. Admission is free. Visit www.ccotp.com for more info.
