PRACTICALITY
THERE’S more headroom in the SEAT, but these cars offer an almost identical amount of rear legroom. This is effectively slightly reduced in the 3008, as the lower front seats make it harder to tuck your feet underneath, although it’s only a slight drawback.
Rear visibility is better in the SEAT as the Peugeot’s sportier styling restricts the view, but the standard all-round parking sensors and a reversing camera on the 3008 help reduce the impact when you’re manoeuvring. The Ateca’s boot isn’t quite as spacious, yet there’s more underfloor storage. Both cars get levers in the boot to fold the rear seats flat.
With the rear bench down there’s still a small lip between the boot and back seats in the Ateca, whereas the join is flush in the 3008. Still, some clever storage solutions, such as a drawer under the driver’s seat, make it a fairly versatile SUV.
