Audi RS3
FOR: Characterful engine, sleek cabin, performance AGAINST: Thirsty, not cheap, handling a little dull STICKING a warbling 362bhp five-cylinder turbo engine in the front of an Audi A3 is a recipe for a great fast hatchback. With all-wheel drive the RS3 is well suited to unpredictable British weather, although the ride is a little too firm for some.
The Audi looks suitably menacing and, unlike the Mercedes-amg, it has a classy enough interior to justify its price tag. It’s just a shame the handling is safe and predictable rather than thrilling. A 2015 RS3 with 17,000 miles can be yours for £29,995.
