Cassidy’s on form for Jakarta double-header

-

JAKARTA plays host to rounds 10 and 11 of the Formula E season this weekend. The Indonesian double-header will see New Zealand’s Nick Cassidy looking to maintain his control of the championship; the Envision Racing driver finally reeled in long-time front runner Pascal Wehlein’s lead last time out after taking a brilliant victory in Monte Carlo.

Starting 10th, Cassidy pulled off a fabulous performance to bring himself into contention for the win, battling his countryman, Jaguar’s Mitch Evans, over the final laps. Evans, who also climbed to the top from sixth on the grid, had been swapping places with Cassidy for a few laps, before an accident for ABT Cupra’s Nico Mueller on the penultimate tour locked the results in as the race finished behind the safety car. Cassidy leads the standings on 121 points, and is 20 clear of Wehrlein, who could manage only 10th in Monte Carlo.

Jake Dennis sits third on 96 points. The Avalanche Andretti driver chalked up another podium, in a return to form after a midseason wobble appeared to knock his title challenge off track. He sits just two points clear of Evans, who has been in fabulous form following a difficult first few races.

There will be a driver change for this weekend. Dennis’s team mate Andre Lotterer will be in Le Mans, looking to add to his three victories at La Sarthe by reuniting with the Porsche LMDh squad. He will be replaced by Avalanche Andretti’s reserve, David Beckmann.
