There’s more to hybrids than tax relief
So John Williams thinks hybrid owners get all the benefits of ownership without having to use the battery (Your Views, 21 November).
I run a company car, a BMW 330e, and I’ll happily admit one of the car’s attractions is a lower benefit-in-kind tax rate. However, I charge the battery overnight and as a result enjoy three great benefits: 20 real-world miles running purely on the battery, which is great for local journeys, 257bhp on tap and more than 43mpg. The battery improves the car’s fuel economy and performance and charging the battery is simple.
