FORD FOCUS ESTATE 1.5 TDCI TITANIUM X
Price £25,180 On sale Now What’s new? Fourth-generation Focus arrives in middling diesel form PRE-DIESELGATE, THIS would be the spec of Focus estate you’d most likely see – but should you follow changing trends and go for a threepot petrol engine in a car this size?
The short answer is yes. There’s nothing desperately wrong with this middling 1.5 TDCI, but refinement is only average and the performance isn’t sparkling. Economy seems unremarkable, too: forget 76mpg, this tester barely saw 50mpg.
Engine aside, the modest 50kg weight penalty for the commodious 608-litre boot is barely noticeable on the road, so this remains the dynamic benchmark in the class. This version, however, is best reserved for highmileage buyers.
