As the spir­i­tual home of ral­ly­cross, Ly­d­den was a much-loved fix­ture on the World Cham­pi­onship cal­en­dar un­til re­placed by Sil­ver­stone this year. While the lengthy queues to gain ac­cess to the cir­cuit (and leave it) were frus­trat­ing, there could be no com­plaints about the view­ing op­tions, epit­o­mised by the North Bend bank.

Here, where the cars clam­ber over the kerb be­fore plung­ing flat chat down­hill to Pad­dock, is jus­ti­fi­ably classed as one of the best view­ing spots in UK mo­tor­sport.
