Where Russell was maybe lucky, Latifi was definitely unlucky as the Q1 stoppage meant he could not improve. At least outqualified Giovinazzi and did well to match Russell in the race. One-point gap to his team-mate is because he could not stay ahead to the finish after Russell’s off.
Russell’s score is kept this high because he did so well in qualifying. Perhaps fortunate with Q1 red-flag timing but he put himself in position to take advantage and was rewarded with a start spot of 11th. He launched past Vettel, but slid off the track battling Magnussen at the restart.
