ROVER 216 GTI RETURNS TO ACTION
Morgan Short, son of racing veteran Martin, took part in the MG Cup races for his third-ever outing and what he and his dad called his first ‘proper’ one after Citroen C1 experience. He did so in a Rover 216 GTI that Short Sr built three decades ago for Chris Berry, and in which Spencer Baker won the 216 GTI title in the car’s only year of competition. The machine has been idle since, and was brought back to life to be raced for the first time in 29 years. Berry was at Donington and admitted to shedding a tear at seeing his old car on track!
