Frederik Rasmussen
“A big thank you to everyone who voted to help me win this award” Frederik Rasmussen
Frederik Rasmussen became the second-ever recipient of the Esports Driver of the Year Award presented by Motorsport Games thanks to the votes of Autosport and Traxion.gg readers.
The 21-year-old Dane earned the accolade for winning the Formula E: Accelerate championship. Competing on behalf of the Dragon Penske Autosport team, Rasmussen snared victories in the simulated Diriyah and Rome races to underpin his late surge to the title spoils. Impressively, he was a relative newcomer to the
rfactor 2 gaming platform and, off the back of his success, has enjoyed a real-world test in a Gen2 Formula E car at Valencia.
Rasmussen beat fellow nominees Mitchell dejong, Kevin Siggy and Josh Rogers to seal the award, with his credentials bolstered by his charge to second in the Formula 1 Esports Series Pro category.
“My biggest support system has been my parents,” he said. “They’ve always been very supportive. Except they wanted me to get an education first. But I eventually quit since I could certainly make a living and focus on Esports. They supported me quitting education and all that, which was great.”
