Elite reveals five Junior drivers headed by Warhurst and Alibhai

-

Ginetta Junior squad Elite Motorsport has revealed five of its drivers for this season, with second-year racers Joe Warhurst and Aqil Alibhai leading its line-up.

Warhurst continues with Elite for a second full season, while Alibhai remains having joined from Breakell for last year’s Winter Series, in which he finished third.

Two rookies that raced with Elite at Brands Hatch last November will also now contest a full season with the team: Mckenzie Douglass and William Macintyre. They will be joined by Japanese karting graduate Kanato Le, while a sixth driver is due to be announced later.

Last year marked the first time since 2016 that an Elite driver did not win the title and team boss Eddie Ives is determined to return to the top.

“Our Junior squad had a tough 2021 so it’s important that we bounce back and aim to reclaim the drivers’ and teams’ titles this season,” he said.

“We have a very good mix of strong, second-year drivers, with Joe and Aqil, combined with a very impressive rookie line-up. Will, Kanato and Mckenzie are all exceeding expectations considering they’re in the early stages of their careers, so I can’t wait to get the season started.”
