NEW INDY ENGINE TESTS

-

Honda and Chevrolet gave their next-generation 2.4-litre, twin-turbo V6 Indycar engines a first track test on the Indianapolis road course early this week. Scott Dixon drove the new Honda powerplant on Monday, while Josef Newgarden was at the wheel for Chevrolet, with Will Power due to take over the Chevy car on Tuesday. The engines, which were not running the Mahle-built hybrid unit with which they will be equipped when they begin racing in 2024, will replace the 2.2-litre twin-turbo V6s that have been in use since 2012.
