BARC SENDS UKRAINE AID

The British Automobile Racing Club has donated medical supplies to Ukraine following the invasion by Russia. IV fluids, trauma and burns dressings, tourniquet­s and airway management equipment was sent to Poland last week before being transporte­d to the war-torn country, with a second delivery due to follow.

MORE DRIVERS FOR GB4

Nikolas Taylor and Christian Lester have been announced as competing in the GB4 Championsh­ip this season, which begins this weekend at Snetterton. Taylor completes Fortec Motorsport­s’ three-driver line-up, while Lester will race for father Hector’s Rossoverde squad. It takes the total number of confirmed drivers to nine as Autosport went to print, with more entries expected ahead of the opening round.

BIASION BACK IN LANCIA

Two-time World Rally champion Miki Biasion will compete in a Group A Lancia Delta Integrale 16V at this weekend’s Sandown Sprint, which will feature 100 entries. The contest takes place on the Isle of Wight and will become the first motorsport event held on the island’s roads for more than 60 years. Biasion’s Lancia will be an exact replica of his 1989 Sanremo Rally-winning machine.

CHEVRON HITS THE TRACK

Expat Briton Alastair Chalmers had a promising debut in the one-off Chevron B32 in the New Zealand Formula 5000 Tasman Cup Revival Series last weekend. The car, last raced by Karl Zohs, placed fifth in the final after being returned to John Cussins’s original 1975 Waring & Gillow hillclimb livery (below). Grant Martin took his Talon MR1A to two victories at the Hampton Downs event, despite having been out of racing for a year, while Tony Galbraith’s Lola T332 won the reversed-grid race.
