AUSTRALIAN SUPERCARS

Formula 1 stars Sergio Perez and Fernando Alonso ‘went for a hoon’ in machinery from the Australian Supercars series last Thursday at Albert Park as they took advantage of the two championships sharing the bill in Melbourne. Perez got behind the wheel of the Triple Eight Racing Holden Commodore of Broc Feeney, while Alonso sampled the Tickford Racing Ford Mustang of Thomas Randle. Feeney’s team-mate, series leader Shane van Gisbergen, quipped: “He ain’t driving my thing! I’ve seen [Alonso] sail off at Turn 1, and Perez buzzed ours to 88[00rpm].”
