FIA IN UNDERWEAR PROBE

As well as clamping down on safety-car restart tactics (see p5), Formula 1 race director Niels Wittich told drivers during a lengthy briefing at last weekend’s Australian Grand Prix that their underwear will be monitored. Gloves, long underwear, balaclavas, socks and boots must be homologated to the FIA’S standards. Lewis Hamilton, who noted that most of the FIA officials were not wearing masks, said: “Are we really talking about that sort of thing?”
