DS TECHEETAH
The early dominant force in Formula E’s Gen2 era, DS Techeetah has faced much greater competition in recent years, although still has one of the most complete driving line-ups on the grid. Jean-eric Vergne is Formula E’s only two-time title winner, claiming the spoils at the climax of the Gen1 era and at the start of Gen2. Antonio Felix da Costa drives the sister car; he joined for the interrupted 2019-20 season and took the title amid a six-race end-of-year run in Berlin.
DS Techeetah is yet to win a race in 2021-22, although Vergne led the standings after Rome owing to his consistency and remains the sole driver to have scored points in every race. The Frenchman had pole for the second Rome race, but lost out to the greater speed of Mitch Evans, who dominated the weekend. He then held the lead in Monaco before a mistimed attack mode activation meant he gave up position to Stoffel Vandoorne, then a full-course yellow meant that the extra power elapsed without a chance to use it.
Da Costa has shown good pace but has endured difficult luck in the opening six races. He left Diriyah scoreless before following Vergne home in fourth at the Mexico E-prix. He rescued a fifth in Monaco after being eliminated in the group stage of qualifying, in which he has been inconsistent so far this year. Yet he remains one of the quickest drivers on the grid.
