MAHINDRA RACING
The Indian manufacturer is another of Formula E’s mainstay squads. It has been a staple in the cut and thrust of the midfield, and is capable of challenging for victories on its day. But since Alex Lynn bagged a victory for the team last year in London, Mahindra hasn’t been able to get close to that in a difficult start to 2021-22.
Alexander Sims has begun his second season with the team, but has struggled for pace and points so far this season. Unlike new team-mate Oliver Rowland, Sims is yet to break into the qualifying duels so far and has therefore been stranded in the midfield.
After a series of retirements and middling results, Sims was on the brink of points in Monaco, but still has not troubled the scoreboard this year, the only driver aside from the Dragon duo yet to do so.
Rowland joined the team from Nissan and has shown that the Mahindra machinery is capable of results. But following his initial success in reaching the duels phase of qualifying in Riyadh, he has struggled to match that performance. Changes in braking software and mechanical tweaks were introduced for Monaco to aid qualifying performance, helping Rowland to ninth on the grid, but he undid his weekend with an ambitious lunge that took him and Andre Lotterer out of the race while in the points.
