DEATH of Her Majesty the Queen

The passing of Her Majesty the Queen has been extremely sad and has affected many people in ways that they did not imagine.

I trust you will join me in sending thoughts and the deepest condolences to the Royal Family.

For more than seven decades the Queen has shown unwavering dedication and devotion to public duty.

She gave a lifetime of service to the country and remains an excellent role model for us all.

For most of us, the Queen was the only monarch we have ever known. So, it is understandable that we feel such a great sense of loss.

I along with other Members of the Scottish Parliament send my best wishes to the King.

Cost of Living Crisis

We all know that change and action are needed urgently by the UK Government to tackle the cost of living crisis.

The Scottish Government, unfortunately, does not hold the power to go as far as we would like to.

The Prime Minister has had ample time to come up with a bold and radical solution for us all.

She must now deliver, instead of leaving it to the likes of Martin Lewis to help people across the UK.

We have, however, committed to doing as much as we can with the powers we have.

The First Minister outlined what the Scottish Government will do in this Parliamentary Term to help people across the country.

One of our most groundbreaking moves is to increase the Scottish Child Payment to £25 per week per child.

This will be crucial in tackling child poverty.

The Scottish Government is once again leading the way with our progressive policies that protect the most vulnerable.

A stark difference to the economically illiterate Conservative Government in Westminster which is obsessed with cuts.

We are ready to build on our record of delivering free bus travel for over 60s and under 22s, free childcare for three and four year olds, free prescriptions, and many more innovative policies.

In total, the Scottish Government will bring 18 new Bills before Parliament this term and will always put the people of Scotland first in what we do.

I hope you have already noticed that Allan Dorans MP and I will be hosting a Cost of Living Advice event in Ayr Town Hall on September 30 between 11am and 4pm.

This will feature a wide range of organisations who will be giving vital support and advice about financial concerns you have about the cost of living crisis.

We would love to see you there and find out what we can do to help you.
