WoSFL - Ayrshire sides return to action

AFTER a week of no action as the nation paid its respects following the passing of Her Majesty the Queen, West of Scotland Football League (WoSFL) action returned to Ayrshire this weekend.

Not only that, some sides were also competing in the Scotland’s premier cup competitio­n - The Scottish Cup.

Games this weekend all saw a minutes silence prior to kick of, in memory of Her Majesty.

Only two Premier League games involved Ayrshire sides this week, one of which was an all Ayrshire tie between Glenafton and Troon at Loch Park. A solitary Stephen Wilson goal saw Troon win the match 1-0.

While it was a tough day at the office for Beith, as they lost 3-0 at home to Kirkintill­och Rob Roy.

There was so little top league action this week as WoSFL sides competed in the Scottish Cup - with some impressive Ayrshire results.

Cumnock travelled north to face Keith and won 2-1 thanks to goals from Jordan Moore and Greg Ferry.

Auchinleck Talbot progress also, defeating Syngenta 4-2 with goals coming courtesy of Jamie Glasgow, Aaron Mason and a Keir Samson double.

Kilwinning Rangers made it a hat-trick for Ayrshire, coming back impressive­ly from 2-0 down to beat Lowland League side Tranent Juniors.

The draw for round two was made on Sunday, with Cumnock to host Dumbarton, Kilwinning to host Forfar and Auchinleck travelling to play Bo’ness

Back to league action and Whitletts Victoria continue to struggle in the WoSFL Division One, losing 2-1 to Shotts Bon Accord this week.

It was contrastin­g fortunes for Kilbirnie however, who moved into top spot after winning 2-1 versus Bonnyton Thistle.

In Division Two, Ardeer Thistle went ahead early but eventually fell to a 3-1 defeat away to Greenock.

Maybole continued to impress, but could only pick up a point at home to Glasgow Perthshire in a 1-1 draw.

While in an all Ayrshire tie, Craigmark made sure they are still battling at the top end of the table, as they dispatched Muirkirk 5-2.

Moving into Division Three and Dalry Thistle picked up three points, beating Vale of Leven 2-1 away from home.

It was a tough one to take for Saltcoats Victoria, who lost narrowly, 2-1, away to Finnart.

Managerles­s Girvan suffered defeat by the same scoreline as they faced Lanark United.

Irvine Victoria showed no signs of stopping in their title pursuit, as they brushed aside Lugar Boswell Thistle 6-0.

While Kello Rovers dropped points for the first time this season, and surrendere­d first place, after a 3-2 loss at home to Vale of Clyde.

And Ardrossan Winton Rovers scored three, but conceded the same amount as they shared the points away to Lesmahagow.
