Man attacked TikTok girlfriend after ‘attempt to drive home drunk’

AN AYR man attacked a woman he met on a social media app outside his flat after she allegedly tried to drive home drunk.

Gordon Watson, 46, avoided custody when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court last week [Tuesday, September 20] after pleaded guilty to the incident outside his flat in Davidson Place.

Procurator Fiscal depute Chris Munro said: “The accused and complainer were in a relationsh­ip after meeting on TikTok.

“On the evening of June 11 this year the witness drove from her home in Arbroath to the accused’s address Ayr.

“Prestwick various premises then home address. At 1am in the locus top floor flat argument broke out between the accused and the complainer.

“He took hold of the witness’ throat restrictin­g her breathing.

“The witness pushed the accused away struck her side of the face. The altercatio­n took place outside the flat in the common close.

“After the accused struck face both returned to the accused’s flat

“A witness residing in the flat below contacted police. Police witnesses observed bruising left eye.

“The accused was arrested at 2am he was cautioned and charged and made no reply.”

Defence solicitor Colin Adam said: “They were drinking there was an argument, she was intending to leave the property leading to the parties being outside.

“Mr Watson did not want her in the car.”

Highlighti­ng previous conviction­s for assault and breach of the peace, Sheriff Siobhan Connelly the accused was “clearly a man with issues of violence and disorder.

He was placed under supervisio­n for 12 months and will also have to take part in the Caledonia Men’s programme which tries to address domestic abusive behaviour. e was also placed on a non harassment order forbidding any contact with the offender for two years.
