It’s time to bring the sunshine in

-

THE summer months are filled with light and laughter, and it’s no secret that your mood can soar when the sun shines.

With autumn now firmly entrenched in both our weather and our interiors, many of us will want to go into reverse, longing for the days when the sun got out of bed a lot earlier and stayed a lot longer.

Why not bring the outdoors in by infusing your home with splashes of sunshine that will simply radiate warmth?

Whether you’re looking to go for a complete overhaul of your space, or you’re merely wanting to try something new, this trend is sure to get you feeling summery and these are just some of the ways you can take part.

There are so many different ways to go with this fabulously versatile colour – cheerful yellow to really brighten up the room; a deep mustard that is being used everywhere from clothing to sofas; or a warm gold that invites you to relax.

No matter which direction you choose to go, this homely colour is sure to bring light to your life.

Feature walls are a great way of changing up the available space and can be as high or low impact as you like.

An understated pattern is usually preferable when you’re going for something slightly low-key and is a great way of making sure you don’t overwhelm the room.

If, however, you are looking for a statement piece that draws the eye, why not use this one wall to let your creativity go wild, and then simply tone down other aspects of the space.

If you’re not quite ready to commit to changing your interiors entirely by splashing on the paint, why not go for something slightly less permanent?

Adding some bright yellow curtains are a subtler way to incorporate the colour into your rooms, and if that’s enough for you there is no need to take it any further than that.

While it’s a great idea to give this trend a try, you should be careful not to overpower the room by incorporating the colour into every aspect of the space. Using it subtly and breaking it up by using soothing greys or calmer whites throughout the room is a great way to keep the place feeling relaxed.

It also makes any small splash of colour the immediate focal point, taking any feature and turning it into a statement. Need some inspiration to get you started? Check out our favourite pics and get the sunshine back in your life!
