A HEARTBROKEN Maidens woman has pleaded for police and council officials to do more to tackle speeding motorists in the area after her pet cat was kncoked down and killed by a car.

Adeline Davidson, who lives on Turnberry Road, had concerns about the road when she moved to the village four months ago.

Adeline told the Advertiser that before she moved in to her home, she had felt reassured by a 20 miles per hour speed limit in the area, leading Adeline to believe that her pet would be safe.

However, according to Adeline, cars have regularly been doing “up to 80mph” in the area.

One of these incidents, she said, killed her pet cat earlier this month - after hitting it at such a speed that, in Adeline’s words, her cat’s “eyes were knocked out of her eye sockets”.

Adeline warned that the car could easily have hit a child or an elderly person instead.

“From the day I moved in it’s been awful,” she said.

“Twenty-four seven, there are speeding drivers doing up to 80mph.

“I’ve tried every avenue to try and deal with this matter.

“On the November 5, my beautiful little cat was killed by one of these speeding drivers who never stopped.

“She was hit at such a speed her eyes were knocked out of her eye sockets.

“This is an image I will have to live with for the rest of my life.

“Although money doesn’t come into it, I’m having to pay the costs of her funeral and to bring her back home.

“I want people to be made aware of the aftermath their selfishness causes those who are left to endure the pain of losing their loving pet.

“This could have been a child or an elderly person.

“This needs to change and unfortunately I’m having to fight this battle on my own because people have given up fighting to have this issue resolved.”

She asked concerned residents to join her in lobbying for action to tackle the speeding problem on the road.

“This could have been a child or an elderly person”

“I urge you to please help me with putting this across so that others may fight to have something done about it.

“I don’t want my little angel’s death to be in vain and I don’t want to give up in fighting for a resolution.”

Adeline has contacted politicians, Police Scotland and South Ayrshire Council asking what can be done to stop the reported speeding.

Police Scotland and South Ayrshire Council have been approached for comment.
