Boxer shorts spark row

-

A PRESTWICK dad lost the rag with his wife and tried to grab her by the neck after she told him to stop walking around the family home in his underwear.

Kushal Duggal told his wife he would call police and have her arrested and threatened to “destroy” her before claiming to have been assaulted.

The 54-year-old appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court for sentencing last week after pleading guilty to charges of assault and threatening or abusive behaviour.

Both offences were committed at an address in Nursery Avenue in Prestwick on April 23 this year.

The procurator fiscal depute told the court: “The witness and the accused were in a relationship for 21 years, residing at the locus with their two children.

“She was told by the daughter that she did not want to see her father in only his boxer shorts.

“The witness then told the accused of the request, and he became aggressive.

“The witness spoke to the accused, trying to calm him down, but he continued shouting to get away from him and shouting ‘b***h’.

“The daughter could hear the distress downstairs.

“He pushed the complainer, causing her to fall back. The accused was told to calm down.”

The court heard that Duggal made several attempts to grab his wife while continuing to shout.

Defence solicitor Tony Currie said: “He accepts responsibility, and the family seem keen to resolve issues.”

Sheriff Shirley Foran placed Duggal under supervision as part of a 12-month community payback order, adding that she would not make any order barring Duggal from contacting his wife.
