Students set for musical premier

-

Final year students on the BA Hons Musical Theatre Degree at the University of the West of Scotland are set to present a world premier in Ayr’s Gaiety Theatre at the end of January.

It’s a new musical by Stephen Langston and Jane Robertson called The Green Door, and tells the story of an unexplained chain of events that will change the mundane existence of one young man forever.

Set in the aftermath of the 1929 stock market crash in New York, it follows the fortunes of Francis, a piano tuner who, in a brief encounter with a stranger, decides to take a chance and step out into the unknown. Loosely based on an original short story by O’Henry, this beautifully crafted musical is guaranteed to mystify, surprise and intrigue.

There is a preview performance on Wednesday, January 28, at 7.30 ( tickets £ 8, £ 4 concession), followed by the World Premier on Thursday, January 29, and further performances on Friday and Saturday, January 30 and 31, all at 7.30pm ( tickets £ 12, £ 10 concession).

There is also a Writer’s Discussion at 6.30pm ahead of Thursday’s premier.
