Carrie’s bumper charity night
A hero nurse has raised an outstanding £ 4000 in a bid to advance research on alopecia and gain a better understanding of her condition.
Hundreds turned up to support inspirational Carrie Morland at the Carlton Hotel, Prestwick for a masquerade charity night recently, with all proceeds going to Autoimmune Alopecia Research UK.
Carrie, who lost all of her hair shortly after giving birth to her son, hosted the grand evening which included a race night, raffle, auction and live entertainment.
She told the Post: “I would like to thank everyone who came along to support me on the evening and to those who have given so generously leading up to this point.
“The auction alone brought in a massive £ 1000, my friend Carissa raised £ 420 for cutting 10 inches of her hair off to donate for wigs and then on the night she raised a further £ 495.
“Myself and my friends Aimee Young and Alison Nicholson removed our wigs on the night to show the outcome of alopecia and our reaction was beyond words.
“When I first started losing hair, I realised there was little research being done into curing this mystery condition and began looking for an answer.
“I have been overwhelmed by the support and cannot wait to start organising the next event, thank you to everyone that has supported me in furthering research for alopecia.”
