Jukebox fury of drunk women

Mother and daughter flip over music

- Stephen Houston

A mother and daughter who attacked a barmaid in their local pub have been slammed for their “totally uncontrolled behaviour.”

The pair caused chaos in The Fourways in Mossblown - and left barmaid Tammy Dillon out COLD.

Now Tracey and Kirsty Brodie will repent by doing 120 hours menial tasks for the community.

The row at The Fourways was sparked because the music from the jukebox was not loud enough, Ayr Sheriff Court heard on Tuesday.

Depute fiscal Scott Toal said both accused started an argument with Ms Dillon over the lack of music, becoming aggressive around 11pm.

Tracey, 46, punched and pulled her hair causing her to fall to the floor.

Both women then repeatedly punched and kicked her on the head and body until she lost consciousness.

One of her nails was pulled out, she was swollen and bruised and had cuts to the head.

Ian Gillies, representing Tracey, said: “It was a very unsavoury incident and Tracey Brodie appreciates that. There were a lot of people in the pub under the influence and there was an earlier argument during a smoking break.

“She is extremely remorseful and realises she has let herself down badly. The complainer only lost consciousness for a second or so.

“Her job may be in some dispute but hopefully this will not dissuade her employer from keeping her on.”

Colin Adam, acting for 27- yearold mum- of- three Kirsty, added: “It was a bit of a family celebration and far too much was drunk. She has actually stopped drinking after that.” Tracey, of Miller Place and Kirsty, of Hill Park, both Mossblown, admitted the assault on September 19 last year.

Sheriff Desmond Leslie said: “Your behaviour was quite disgraceful. I think you can consider yourself lucky the injuries were not more severe.

“Mums are supposed to be role models - and you are not.”

Sheriff Leslie said their behaviour “on all levels” - including previous convictions - pointed to both of them simply not caring.

He also ordered that Tracey pay Tammy Dillon £ 500 compensation.
