Auchinleck

-

Auchinleck Academy are hosting a Mary’s Meals Backpack collection to be completed by May 31.

People who can spare any of the following items should hand into the school office:

Old backpack, crayons, pencil cases, towels, spoons, flip- flops or sandals, skirts/ shorts or dress, t- shirts, rulers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, small ball ( eg tennis ball), pencils, eraser, sharpeners, notepad/ jotter. Auchinleck Academy pupils Olivia Steele ( S4) and Emma Smith ( S2) both won Miss Scotland titles for baton twirling.

Emma won the class two 13 to 14 age group and Olivia won the 15+ age group.

This was a great achievement by two very talented performers. Auchinleck Academy will be staging the musical Sunshine on Leith from Tuesday, June 21, to Thursday, June 23. Tickets will be on sale soon. Wednesday saw Carrick Academy travel to Broomfield with the S1 side winning 39- 21.

They started slowly but the side rallied and displayed some very balanced rugby with some passages of strong powerful running combined with slick passing and pacey scores out wide.

The S2 side narrowly lost 16 tries to 13 in a much improved performance showing determination and passion. Great praise is due to this side for their continued efforts.

The under- 15 team once again battled hard and made their tackles count in a bruising affair. R Airlie, playing up a year group, performed outstandingly and proved his Glasgow under- 14 Pathway selection was justified. If any school leavers have an unwanted blazer, in good condition, the school would ask if they to consider donating it to the school and should hand them into the main office.
