Adrian has love affair with Ayr

Irish raider says it’s his favourite track

skinny at 1- 2 favourite but she romped home by 10 lengths and was being primed to make it a quick three in a row in the 3.40 at Hamilton yesterday ( Wednesday).

If that plan comes off, you can rest assured the handicapper will hammer this lightly raced four- year- old.

Another trainer who is a real Ayr specialist, particularly in our feature races, is Michael Dods and he again landed the top prize of the day on Monday when the fast finishing Le Chat d’Or ( 8- 1) just foiled Erik The Red by a neck.

This was the horse’s third course win and his jockey Paul Mulrennan, who was seen at his very best here, said afterwards: “He likes this course and the ground was ideal for him.”

Dumfriesshire based trainer Iain Jardine provided Joe Fanning, who had earlier ridden Millefiori, with his second winner of the day when Cymraeg Bounty, the 5- 2 fav, won the one mile two furlong handicap by a short head from Henpecked , trained in the Borders by Alistair Whillans.

Biggest priced winner on Monday was the ten- year- old Captain Scooby at 25- 1, ridden by Jason Hart and trained by Richard Guest who just held on by a head to beat Jim Goldie’s Go Go Green.

So following hard on the heels of a very successful Tennent’s Raceday last Wednesday, Monday was another enjoyable day with sunshine bathing the track.

Our next meeting is on Monday, June 6.
