Talbot pair get it write on time

Milliken and Wilson pen deals at Auchinleck

-

Keir Milliken and Graham Wilson have given double chasing Auchinleck a major boost by agreeing new deals.

The news comes as Talbot move to the brink of clinching their fourth Premier League title in a row.

A point at home to Hurlford on Wednesday night would be enough to add the league to their 11th West of Scotland Cup triumph.

Secretary Henry Dumigan said: “We did the double two years ago when we went out of the Scottish Cup and it would be a great achievement to do it again.”

Goals from Mark Shankland and Graham Wilson gave Talbot a 2- 0 win over Hurlford in the West final at Newlandsfield last Friday.

Shankland stooped to nod home a cross. Then with only 13 minutes on the clock, Graham Wilson nailed No2 with a deflected free- kick.

Boss Tommy Sloan missed the game through a family illness but hoped to be back on Wednesday.

boss Peter Leonard has cooled talk that he is hot favourite to become the new manager of Irvine Meadow.

The seasiders won the Ayrshire League without losing a game, ending the campaign with a 5- 1 win at Saltcoats on Monday evening.

Leonard, who played with Meadow for two seasons in the 1980s, said: “There has been no contact but I would always give people the courtesy of hearing what they have to say.

“If they phoned, I would have a chat. However, I would be loathe to leave as it is work in progress at Girvan. Enjoyment in life is important and I get that at Girvan.

“The players call themselves the Girvan Invincibles just like Arsenal did when they won the Premiership without losing a game.

“The committee have been excellent and there are big renovation plans at Hamilton Park.”

Goals at Saltcoats came from Scott Dinwoodie, Danny Cunningham, Michael Mossie, Paul Cameron and Calum Nairn. They head to Forth on Saturday in the Champions Cup and host Cumnock in the Ayrshire Cup quarter- finals after beating Kilwinning 5- 4 on penalties. Paul Cameron’s equaliser earned the shoot- out after Ricky Hanvey gave Buffs the lead.

will pip Largs for the First Division title if they win their final two games against Shotts ( away) and Cumbernauld ( home).

They moved third top with a crushing 7- 1 win away to Kilsyth on Tuesday night.

There were doubles from Ray Montgomery, Sean McKenzie and Aiden Malone while Del Eslpin was also on target.

‘ Nock still need points to step up as Clydebank and Kilwinning are also in the mix with promoted Largs.
