Advertising Feature Airport Prestwick proving it’s a really hot property

-

Glasgow Prestwick Airport is proving to be an attractive destination for business as well as travellers.

In addition to its passenger travel and freight operations, Prestwick Airport has a successful property section.

It offers a wide selection of properties to let for businesses including offices, warehousing and hangar space.

One of the Property Managers at the airport is Elaine Smith, who has seen that section of the business grow in recent years.

Around 90,000sq metres of land and buildings are leased at present, while around 10,000sq metres of buildings are currently available for let.

Elaine, who has worked at Prestwick for 11 years, said: “Property is a promising potential area of income for the airport.

“We’ve got a wide variety of businesses who are leasing space from us just now, including a log cabin firm, a bi- fold door company and carpet companies, We also have the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce here, located in the mezzanine of the main terminal building..

“We’ve a real diversity - a firm who do snowboarding holidays, an assurance company, an internet fraud firm and a high- end recruitment agency.

“Some of the businesses who have come here have actually been so pleased with how their business has gone, they’ve had to upgrade their premises and move into larger spaces. This has happened twice this year.

“They like it here - the roads and the infrastructure are good, and there’s plenty of parking for them, which is included in the packages and this is not readily available in many other locations.

“When a client moves into an office here, it will be refurbished for them.

” Something our clients have told us is they like having an airport address - it definitely looks impressive.”

The property team look to meet with prospective customers in order to find them the office space that suits their requirements - they have space suitable for one or two people upwards.

Accommodation is available within, or close to, the terminal building, as well as standalone sites.

Firms who base themselves at Glasgow Prestwick are able to use on- site facilities such as training and meeting rooms, with corporate catering available from the airport’s catering providers.

It’s not just office space that’s available, with warehousing also for lease.

There’s separate estates, the Alpha Industrial Estate and Bravo Freight Area. Warehouses are available to meet all occupier requirements with units ranging in size from around 1000 square feet up to a hangar which can accommodate a 747 aircraft.

Existing tenants at the airport include a mix of local, national and multinational businesses.

Elaine continued: ““A lot of people don’t realise the property space we have here.

“We have a very professional approach, and with all the refurbishments and rebranding that have taken place here, we’ve shown that we are a serious business.”

In addition to the existing properties, the airport also welcomes interest from businesses looking for development opportunities that have synergies with the airport’s plans and operations.

With approximately 880 acres of land and the 10,000 square foot of existing warehouse, hanger and office space available for rent, Elaine and her colleagues have lots to work with to help to attract more business to the area - which would bring additional income for the airport and the local economy and more jobs to Ayrshire.
