The old manse in need of new squire Your very own playgroundwith golf course

- Stephen Houston

In days of old the Church certainly has more money than it does today.

This former manse must be one of the most outstanding in the country.

It was built from Kennedy land owning money, so the good parish of Kirkoswald had a fine benefactor.

Glorious Glebe House has just gone on the market with an asking price of £ 1.3 million.

And for that you even get your very own short nine- hole golf course - how apt then that Donald Trump has just crowned his rather larger golf resort just down the road.

Glebe has five bedrooms as well as an attached cottage with more two further bedrooms for guests.

There are also a teenis court, stables and swimming pool . . . what more could a South Ayrshire country squire need?

Agents Savills say Glebe has a “most enchanting, secluded position.” It dates from 1771, the same as the historic church close by.

In the kitchen you get a very necessary four- ovened Aga . . . in striking fire engine red. A deep pantry has enough space for all the food you could ever stock.

There is a preparatory kitchen adjoining, as well as a laundry room and boot room.

Outside there is a double garage, car port, store room and a plant room next to the pool.

There is also another cottage style building currently used as an art studio.

Savills add: “The beautiful gardens are a credit to the current owners with a walled garden to the front and extensive, mainly lawned gardens to the rear with tennis court and ine hole golf course which takes in the beautiful views over the surrounding farmland.”

The pool measures 29ft 6in by 43ft 8in has picture windows and French doors to a garden terrace. Just for good measure there is a games room and a craft room next door.

It has all the high ceilings you would expect from the era and very nearly 7,000 square feet of floor space.

The drawing room has an open fire and double doors to the conservatory.
