Not a lotto luck for Pamela
A gran’s good luck turned to bad fortune when she pocketed only a third of her lottery prize.
Pamela Dillon, of Lochside, Ayr was thrilled when she scooped £ 306 on a Bingo scratchcard.
But when she lodged her claim at Tesco a system fault saw her only awarded £ 100.
Disappointed Pamela is now fighting to receive her full prize after the Whitletts Road supermarket came up short.
The 73- year- old, of Ferguson Street, said: “I nearly choked to death on my sausage roll when I saw what I had won. I have played the game for years so I know what I’m talking about. I ran up to Tesco happy and handed over the card, saying I was owed £ 306. But the scanning machine only spat out £ 100 cash. I told them: ‘ that is not right.’ “The manageress agreed and admitted she didn’t understand why.”
Pamela was forced to post the card special delivery to a National Lottery office in England for investigation.
Her complaints in England by telephone have remained unanswered.
She is still trying to get the matter resolved despite buying the card on Tuesday, October 18.
She said: “I am down in the dumps about this. It is costing me a fortune on my top- up mobile. It is not good enough. I still haven’t heard a thing.
I am really angry and feel I have been cheated. No- one wants to listen to me. It is not a great deal of money but I was going to buy my soon to be born grandson some new clothes.
I’m worried about how many people this has happened to before. I am going to make them sit up and listen.”
Before going to the Whitletts Road supermarket she visited another small newsagent who was prepared to pay her the full amount but didn’t have sufficient cash in the till.
A Camelot spokewoman said the “Player Services team” were in the process of responding to Pamela’s query and she would hear from them in the next couple of days.
