Purple power at academy

-

Carrick Academy’s student council organised a non- uniform Wear it Purple Day.

Their fantastic fundraising raised £ 473.55 for Ayrshire Hospice.

The pupils held a dress- down day and asked their class mates to donate to raise vital funds for the charity.

Shona Stevens, head teacher at Carrick Academy, said: “We encourage the pupils to get involved in fundraising in aid of local charities and the pupils really got behind the Go Purple campaign and supported the hospice.”

Ron Swanson, assistant fundraising manager at the Ayrshire Hospice, said: “We have been delighted with the response to this year’s Go Purple campaign and it’s only possible due to schools like Carrick Academy taking part.

“We are so grateful to the pupils for all their hard work and every penny will be truly appreciated by everyone at the hospice. The kindness and generosity of the Ayrshire community is never taken for granted.”

Funds are still being submitted for Go Purple and the fundraising team hope to have a collective total by December 2016. If you still have Go Purple funds to submit or would like to donate to the campaign, visit the fundraising team at 29 Miller Road, Ayr KA7 2AX or call Ron Swanson on 01292 288488 for more information on how you can support the hospice.
