And then the hair turned scary green

-

I put a spell on you and now you’re mine.

Well, it was Halloween this week, after all, lot’s of hocus pocus going on with dressing up the children and if you are game, dressing up yourself.

It seems to be the one night of the year when we can.

There are so many parties planned, in homes schools and other venues to celebrate this night I couldn’t resist dressing up my dog Louie in his Count Dracula coat.

The other day I was in a local supermarket and the children ran in after their dad with green hair, yes green.

And that took me right back to a day when I had the misfortune to strip back a client’s hair and had the same effect.

When I washed the colour off, it was green and we both had to go back to the mirror to dry it before more colour correction.

I must say the lady in question dealt with it very well and she was a soap opera star on STV at the time - but the it is a lesson learned.

In the hairdressing game you must expect the unexpected.

But then Police Scotland were recently called to a family home in Rutherglen with spooky going’s on.

Just how do you deal with the pet dog levitating and plates flying around the kitchen? Supernatural goings on. The call for a psychic is big business these days many of us are intrigued at the thought of chatting once again with a loved one and many a time I’ve heard from a client that they are off to a physic night.

We all seem to love a good horror film from time to time and Hollywood knows this.

I’ve had some experiences that are unquestionable myself.

Ayrshire is full of mystery and ghostly goings on just look how much Robert Burns wrote about this.

I can remember a few years ago my friend and I bumped into a ghost in the Queen’s Court in Ayr without any harm and did some waxing treatments.

But then the UK and USA show Most Haunted has millions of viewers so many are intrigued by this show.

There’s many company’s now doing ghost walks in Ayr and Edinburgh and one of my own memories as a child wasn’t the monkey nuts or doing a song next door but when my mum dressed me and my brother as girls for a Hallowe’en party in Glasgow.

Well, my mother had got the dates wrong and we went visiting on the wrong night.

And when an older couple sat with her she just smiled yes but was a little embarrassed when the woman remarked what lovely daughters she had. Some Like It Hot springs to mind. Here are some tips to help remove your green hair.

Buy a clarifying shampoo that is specifically not safe to use on dyed hair.

This shampoo will help to strip your hair of the dyed color.

If your hair tends to be dry or unmanageable, you should buy a more expensive conditioner that will give your hair the nutrients it needs.

Dandruff shampoo will also work, however, depending on the active ingredients in the shampoo and dye, it might simply lighten the color of the dye, rather than actually removing it from your hair.

Consider mixing some baking soda into your shampoo. Baking soda is a natural bleaching agent, so adding it to your shampoo can make the colour- stripping process faster.

Some hairdressers often recommend adding some tomato ketchup if your bleached hair turns green if you have had a dip in the pool.

Worth a shot if you are caught short and don’t have a hairdresser with you on holiday to sort out your hair drama folks.

All thebest, Martin.
