Winter is on the way for Ayrshire folk music fans

-

A top folk duo are the latest guests at the Craigie Folk Club.

Winter Wilson, comprising Kip Winter on vocals, accordion, guitar and flute and Dave Wilson on vocals and guitar, come to Craigie Village Hall, by Kilmarnock, on Saturday, November 5.

The duo played semi- professionally for many years before turning full time in 2012 - and they’ve never looked back.

Together they have released eight well- received albums from 1996’ s By The Skin Of Our Teeth to Ashes and Dust, released earlier this year.

Kip began learning piano aged nine and later bought a second hand flute, and has since developed an interest in many instruments.

She sings a wide range of music from classical to jazz and soul, but is especially keen on folk and blues.

Dave bought his first guitar aged 17 and learned to play from the David Bowie songbook.

He started writing songs in the early 1980s and has never looked back, with many of his songs being covered by artists around the UK and beyond.

The event is unlicensed, so guests should bring their own refreshments and glasses. Tea, coffee and cakes are available at the interval.

Tickets cost £ 10 and are available from Dave on 01369 840404 or Lorna on 07899978736. The evening begins at 8pm.
