Clinic sets standard for Ayrshire
Quest Clinic is an established aesthetic, health, complimentary therapy and beauty clinic in the heart of Ayr, offering a wide variety of treatments.
It is owned and managed by Joan Boyle, a highly skilled and experienced registered nurse who has worked both in the NHS and the private sector.
Joan has been an aesthetic nurse since 2000 and has had a private practice in the town for over 10 years.
In 2015 she opened Quest Clinic in Miller Road and was joined by Linda Waddell, also a highly skilled and experienced registered nurse, advanced nurse practitioner and aesthetic nurse; Leigh Kelly, complementary therapist; Linda Meredith, Bowen therapist; Roslyn Wiseman, non- permanent make- up artist and cosmetic therapist; and Jardin Allan, clinic receptionist.
That allowed the clinic to expand its treatments to include complementary therapies, permanent make- up and beauty treatments.
Recently consultant anaesthetists and aesthetic doctors Dr Laura McGarrity and Dr Janie Collie have joined the team.
This is an important time for Quest as, following the breast implant scandal a few years ago and the results of the Keogh report that followed it, the Scottish Government had significant concerns about the safety of people having cosmetic surgery and treatments.
This led to a review of current practices in Scotland and the introduction of new legislation designed to protect the public.
The new legislation requires all non- NHS services such as laser eye clinics and non- surgical aesthetic/ cosmetic clinics providing treatments such as anti- wrinkle injections ( commonly known as Botox) and dermal filler injections, provided by doctors, nurses and dental care professionals, to be registered and regulated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland ( HIS).
The process began in 2016 and registration is to be completed by March 31.
Quest Clinic are proud to announce that they are leading the way in patient safety and are the first clinic in Ayrshire to be registered with HIS under the new legislation.
Following an inspection of the premises by HIS at the end of 2016 they have been successfully registered.
Joan Boyle said: “Everyone at Quest clinic has worked extremely hard to complete the application so I’m delighted we have been announced as the first in Ayrshire to successfully register.
“The new legislation for independent clinics is vital to ensure the best care is carried out in the safest environment for every patient. The fact that we are leading the way for other industry professionals across Ayrshire is a mark of our standards of practice and dedication to our patients.
“While Quest Clinic can now provide an added layer of reassurance to our patients, we hope our actions will inspire other clinics and healthcare professionals to register.”
