Tuned in for great night
West Sound held a successful Burns Supper.
The station welcomed guests to celebrate the birthday of Scotland’s National poet, Robert Burns.
Guests at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Glasgow enjoyed a four- course meal and were entertained by both musical and poetic talent, piped into the venue by the Scottish Fire & Rescue Pipe Band. Former football referee Willie Young chaired the evening’s proceedings.
Highlights of the night included Robert Burns speaker and comedian Keara Murphy with the Toast to the Laddies. Rebutting this was popular after- dinner speaker John McKelvie who had the audience in fits with his hilarious Toast to the Lassies.
Robert Burns performer, Christopher Tait impersonated the Bard and delivered the all- important Address to the Haggis. Sandy Strang recited The Immortal Memory of Robert Burns while Derek Pierce from J& D Pierce Contracts gave the Selkirk Grace.
An essential ingredient of the night was performances from the Junior Burnsian of the Year, 11- year- old Kirsty Grant, who wowed the audience with her talented fiddle playing and Young Burnsian of the Year, 17- year- old singer Holly Jarvis, with her haunting renditions of Ae Fond Kiss and John Anderson, My Jo.
Also providing top entertainment was Britain’s Got Talent 2014 winners, musical theatre group, Collabro who performed I Dreamed A Dream and A Red, Red Rose.
Guests were also treated to traditional Scottish music from John Carmichael and his ceilidh Band.

This year was better than ever with a mix of top class entertainment from both modern and traditional performers, creating a truly unique celebration.”
