Dalrymple opens £ 2.1m Early Learning Centre
Sarah Jane McDonald Nursery pupils and their teachers had a day to remember as Dalrymple swung open the doors to a brand new education hub this week.
The £ 2.1million Early Learning Centre features two high- end ECC playrooms, two primary school classrooms, an outdoor area and a community centre, providing the opportunity for a range of social, sport and community classes.
Funded by East Ayrshire Council, families, friends, teachers and pupils came together to celebrate the hub, which was opened by Jeane Freeman, MSP for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley. On the day, she told the Post: “The opening of this new Early Childhood Centre is great news for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley, especially the community of Dalrymple.
“The Scottish Government is committed to getting it right for every child, and we know that children reach their full potential not just through education, but also from play and sport, and from being part of resilient and thriving communities and I look forward to visiting it often in the years ahead.”
Welcoming the guests, depute leader of East Ayrshire Council Councillor Tom Cook said: “This new centre gives our young learners and staff a superb, bright and inspirational learning environment.
“The investment in our youngest children and in our local community will help our young people succeed from the earliest age, right through to their final year in school and beyond.
“It’s a really exciting time for Dalrymple and in the last few months, I know just how excited the children, parents, staff and local people have been as the work has progressed.
“I’m delighted that it is now open and I look forward to the new facilities becoming a focal point for the communities to enjoy social, sport, community and educational successes, now and for generations still to come.”
