Ayrshire’s view A new train of thought?

-

Transport Scotland, the nation’s transport authority, has asked for the public’s view on railway planning issues.

Their “Consultation on Rail Infrastructure Strategy” deserves positive comment by Friday, February 24 February, and some constructive ideas are easy to submit.

Reopened stations are possible and Transport Scotland even provide projected annual usage figures. Cumnock ( 200k), Mauchline ( 120k), Hurlford ( 100k), and Burnbank ( 136k) are all well worth further consideration.

They are all on existing rail lines which carry passenger trains. Failure to mention Kilmarnock’s underused asset, the freight only line to Queen’s Drive, is a rather careless omission. It is a clear case for opening a new build station with a very large catchment area on a flat, welcoming brownfield site. Served by electric trains it would cause modal transfer towards rail on a route which has great untapped capacity.

Details of this study are available from transport whose website is interesting indeed. local based businesses, we offer free advertising to local Ayrshire based charities - Ayrshire Hospice, Ayrshire Cancer Support, Ayrshire Sportsability, Hansel Village and Cash for Kids have all benefited from free local high impact advertising.

In addition, South Ayrshire Council also use the digital billboard for local marketing initiatives to communicate with the local community for subjects such as recycling, trading standards and leisure centre offers.

On the subject of “Too Bright” and Mr Fraser encouraging locals to contact MP Corri Wilson on the matter, it is worth pointing out to Mr Fraser that Corri Wilson is clearly a supporter of the screen and the benefits from modern digital outdoor advertising as she has booked and paid for advertising space on the Ayr screen as part of her successful election campaign.

Of course we cannot take full credit for her illuminated presence on the screen being solely the reason Corri Wilson got elected but we like to think she was “Too Bright” to miss her name up in lights in front of 500,000 passing cars. a complete shambles letting people down. I know some of the workers they say it’s terrible the way the system works.

The last time I got picked up there was one lady and me.

When I came home I was myself , it cost me £ 7.20 to come home so that was £ 15.40 total on taxis and all the ambulances doing nothing. What a joke and a waste. Did anyone lose a Compact Flash card for a Canon camera on one of the South Ayrshire beaches back in 2004?

There are lots of photos of the Maldives and Porsche cars. I would like to re- unite it with its owner! I found it years ago but could not trace the owner then. I just re- discovered it in a cupboard!

One of the pictures is attached here. If you know who is in the picture, please contact the Ayrshire Post.
