Troon OIR welcome members to have a go at Petanque and Indoor Bowls. The “Come and Try It” session will be held at Muirhead Activity Centre on Friday March 31 from 2pm to 4pm. To find out more contact Myra Robertson on 07825 18330 £ 2.

At the March meeting of Troon Ladies’ Lunch Club, Linda Rayner gave a talk on Antarctica. In her presentati­on she described her cruise showing beautiful pictures of sunsets through the icebergs, albatrosse­s, humpbacked whales and four different kinds of penguins. On the return journey, the ship docked at Port Stanley allowing the passengers a tour of the Falkland Islands. Sheila Webster gave the vote of thanks. The next meeting will be on Wednesday April 5 at 12.30pm in The Piersland House Hotel, Troon. Anyone wishing to attend should contact Sheila Webster on 01292 314532.

The next meeting of Troon Flower Club will be held in the Walker Hall on Wednesday, March 29 at 7.30pm. The demonstrat­or for the evening is Kate Russell from Spital whose title is “A Floral Scrapbook”. New members

Meadow Green Centre welcome Seniors to their Afternoon Teas held on the second Monday of the month from 2pm to 3pm. Enjoy the chat and friendship. Troon Foodbank opens every week in Room 2, Troon Old Parish Church on Tuesdays and Fridays from 12noon to 2pm.

Troon Community Council Date for your Diary – The 2017 Crossroads ( South Ayrshire) Care for Carers Bridge Drive will take place in St Meddan’s Church Hall, Troon from 2pm to 4pm on Friday March 24. Date for your Diary – Calling all ex- Army, Navy or Air Force members to join and march with the Royal British Legion Troon Branch for the Remembranc­e Day Parade on Sunday November 13. The Parade will be led by the 1 st Troon Boys Brigade Pipe Band and the Salute will be taken by Major David Dickson, Deputy Lord Lieut. Of Ayrshire. Campaign medals and decoration­s to be worn.

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY The Rotary Club Troon are holding a Community Sale in Troon Concert Hall on Saturday November 12. Tables cost £ 15 and should be booked now. All used items must be in good condition. Vendors selling crafts, art, clothing, jewellery, toys and soft furnishing will be very welcome. Please note that the funds you raise from your sales will be 100% yours. Troon Rotary Club takes revenue only from table sales which offsets hiring of hall and kitchen. New Inck Theatre are working in partnershi­p with Dalmelling­ton Community Associatio­n to involve the local community and incorporat­e the true life stories of this turbulent and life changing time into a new play Gold Dust by local playwright Ros Borland. Both Ros and theatre producer and playwright Lisa Nicoll are looking to meet with the community to hear stories and build characters and plots for the final production which will premier at Dalmelling­ton Community Centre later in 2017 before touring to other mining villages across Scotland.
