Bring on the Bonanza final

BROOMHILL COARSE FISHERY Well done to Sandy McKay ( pictured) and James Jameison who qualified to the final of the Broomhill Bonanza on Sunday after winning the first qualifier.

Sandy won on the Carp Water with 26lb while James won the Canal with 54lb. BROOMHILL FLY FISHERY Lots of hard fighting fish caught over the weekend, including tigers, blues and big brownies. Another stocking of brownies up to 13lb went in as well as 3lb blues.

The bait pond is stocked with rainbows up to 4lb and it’s only £ 15 for two fish, three hours for adult/ child.

The first competitio­n will take place this Saturday and there’s also been a fundraiser arranged for the Scotland ladies fly fishing team on Sunday, May 7. Book into all events via the fishery.

Best fly this week: Diawl Bach. AYR ANGLING CLUB Two lochs and River Ayr have been stocked. Snipe Loch fishing OK on bait and fly.

B McLean, on bait and fly over two days, caught four at 8lbs 2 ozs, S Ryan two at 4lbs bait, G Scott fly and bait three at 5lbs 8ozs over two days.

Next committee meeting is in the Ex Services Club on Monday, April 10 at 7pm. BURNS TROUT FISHERY Visiting clubs Dillets AC caught 12 fish while Clydesdale Bank AC caught 24 fish.

Coarse loch picking up. Barry Sims caught eight carp to 8lb 4oz one bream and four big roach over a 1lb.

JB Angling had a sweep with winning bag going to Stuart black with 11lb. Jim Smith also had a few carp to 8lb .
