Wattfield pip Seafield to strike gold
Derek Ferguson ( Glaisnock Valley) will bid to make it fourth time lucky after winning through to the Bowls Scotland finals at Northfield.
Ferguson, who has lost three times in the junior singles, will line up in the blue riband singles after beating Brian Fulton ( Northfield) 21- 16 in the inter district final at Prestwick last Friday evening.
Northfield and Prestwick will both have double hopes of glory in the finals which kick off on Monday, July 24.
Northfield’s Derek Wilson and Colin Smith beat Derek and Craig Barbour ( Sorn) 23- 13 in the pairs while the triples of Craig Collins, John Cuthbertson and Graham McKinlay beat Sorn’s Cameron White jnr, Jim Richmond and Cameron White 15- 6.
Prestwick’s Andrew Weir beat Ryan Currie ( Cumnock) 21- 19 in the junior singles while father and daughter Jamie and Rebecca Houston beat Shirley Griffin and Alex Cathie ( Coylton) 18- 13 in the mixed pairs.
Auchinleck’s Joe Devlin, Tommy Bohan, Craig Johnston and Garry Johnstone beat Ayr Craigie’s Allister Reid, Ross Flanagan, Stuart Murdoch and Kenny Renwick 20- 13 in the fours.
Billy Anderson ( Coylton) will fly the flag in the senior singles after beating Graham Arnott ( Northfield) 12- 11.
The senior fours went to the last bowl before Cumnock’s Eddie Duncan, Willie White, Willie McLatchie and Willie McKenzie edged out Ayr’s Ian Wood, Willie Fulton, Willie White and Stuart Reid 15- 14.
