Holly set to help us follow a healthy eating plan

Former footballer’s off- pitch goal is to help clients with her passion for food and fitness . . .

Holly Hodge is an Ayrshire nutritionist out to prove that leading a healthy lifestyle is simple. Former footballer Holly Hodge who played for Brighton and Hove knew that once she focused on life off the pitch it would have to be an active and healthy career path that she followed.

She had always followed a strict training regime and was fascinated by the science of food and seven years ago studied and qualified to become a food nutritionist.

Now, Holly runs It’s Nutrition from her stunning farmhouse on the outskirts of West Kilbride.

And her clients range from people trying to lost weight to athletes training for iron men challenges and triathlons.

She can analyse your current diet, help you to lose weight and or improve your sporting performance, one of her clients she is working with now is a Scottish youth triathlete.

But no matter who the client is, Holly reiterates her belief that following a healthy diet should be something that we adopt for life.

“I decided to combine my passion for food and how it works within the body with helping others to achieve their nutritional goals,” explained Holly, 35.

“My motto is ‘ never start a diet that you cannot sustain for life, what we eat and put into our bodies should be a pleasurable experience. Nobody wants to go through life counting calories and restricting themselves to certain foods.

“The plans I create are designed to fit into people’s lifestyles, so that they change the way they eat for life not just for a holiday or special occasion.”

Holly is the newest columnist to join Ayrshire Life.

Once a month Holly will be sharing her knowledge of food with Life readers helping us know, quite simply, what to eat.

“I can show you how to follow simple meal plans each month that allow you to eat healthy and nutritious foods that fit into your daily routine,” said Holly.

“It’s really not rocket science.”
