My Monza date with Lee

F1 reporter from Ayr is on pole

-

And we got interrupted by some old geezer on a moped.

“That was Sebastian Vettel’s dad . . . lovely man . . .”

But somewhere along the way, I learned that Lee is allergic to shellfish, she would love to tour South America, her favourite Grand Prix venues are Spa and Monza and she likes to try the local food while on her travels.

“We’re all going for pizza tonight – the best pizza house in Italy”.

I didn’t even ask her where it was. The boys on tour would have inveigled it out of me and gate crashed Lee’s mozzarella. How embarrassing.

If Lee doesn’t mind me saying so . . . and you too Bob . . . she . . er . . does have a bit of a male fan club.

But for lady who really DOES live in the fast lane, logs more air miles than most pilots and has Max Verstappen’s mobile number - her ego isn’t turbo charged.

She gets home as often as she can, dotes on her parents and loves nothing better than hanging out with the pals she’s known since school.

Does she get recognised on the streets of Ayr these days?

“Yeh, a bit I suppose . . . but it’s nice when people say they enjoyed a report or an interview I’ve done”.

With Channel 4 losing its F1 rights – that section of Lee’s career track may hit a chicane one day.

But for now, she’s super busy with other projects and enjoying her career.

And she was so super busy at Monza – my chat was over before it got out the pit lane.
