Cabin plan for Prestwick shore

-

The August meeting of Prestwick South Community Council heard of a raft of town issues.

Budgen’s car park Status: The South Ayrshire Councillors present were asked for clarification regarding payment for parking at this location.

It was pointed out that the carpark area is private land over which the Council has no control. Providing that the owners comply with the appropriate legislation it would appear that they can fine ( through the civil court system) drivers who do not pay the requested fee.

Eggs Thrown at House Windows: A resident from Craigpark Avenue raised a complaint about young men throwing eggs and stones at the windows of her home.

The Police Officers in attendance took note and indicated that there would be checking on the area in relation to the problem.

Flooding Due to Inadequate Sewer Capacity: Two residents from Brandon Gardens raised the continuing problem of the sewer which runs along the side of the railway which surcharges into homes located close to the sewer at times of heavy rainfall.

Although this problem has been known for several years Scottish Water have still not taken steps to remedy the situation. The only development has been that the Scottish Environment Protection Agency have identified the areas concerned to be included in their flood risk map.

The Chairman indicated that the Community Council would seek further information in respect of the problem and the required solution.

Proposed Development of North Beach Area: Al Priestnall from the charity Community Gift Exchange gave a presentation on plans for development on the old go kart site and car park.

Still at an early stage but ideas include beach huts, eco cabins for holiday accommodation, touring pitches for caravans and motor homes and a hub with café, toilets, showers, craft shop and bicycle hire.

The proposals would involve job training, disability opportunities and community usage.

Next Meeting The next meeting will be held in Kingcase Church Hall at 7pm on Thursday 28 September.

As always members of the public are warmly invited to attend and can be given the opportunity to raise any matters of concern affecting the Prestwick South area.
