Ayrshire Post

So yes, I have adopted a new dog to the clan

-

In addition to operating my training and behaviour practice across Ayrshire, I am proud and honoured to now be part of the post- adoption team of volunteers at the magical NOPLACELikeHOME Charity offering behaviour and training advice to new adopters.

The lovely people of this UK based charity work tirelessly rescuing puppies and dogs in Spain and bring them to loving homes in UK and Europe.

NPLH really care about the dogs they rescue and I like that.

With typically small resources they put together a robust medical plan for every dog in their care and the step by step adoption process ensures a high success rate for adoptions.

I particularly love the post adoption help NPLH offers.

There is no doubt that dogs coming from overseas can have issues; for example they may need help with house training, be unused to leash walking, have difficulty learning basic cues etc and this can make some adopters nervous of taking on a dog from abroad and this is where NPLH’s excellent post adoptive care really steps up to help.

No adopter need feel abandoned once they have their dog or pup – help and support is always available for as long as needed.

And for anyone who may be wondering Yes, I have fallen in love and a new baby sister for Nutty Dachshund is imminent.

Right now she is with the NPLH charity and will travel to UK when she is 16- weeks old.

The charity keeps all puppy adopters up to speed with their chosen pup’s progress and sends pictures and videos regularly until the pup is old enough to travel to his/ her furever home.

After careful consideration we have chosen to call our new addition Sophie so her carers at NPLH Cordoba, Spain are already using her name.
