Anglers pay tribute to Bob

BURNS TROUT FISHERY The fishery will stage the Bob Lind Memorial Singles Open Fly and Bait Competitio­n on Sunday, September 10 from 8am until 4pm.

The Interprovi­ncial Masonic visited. First was John Wren ( 1662) with four fish for 8lb 15oz, second was S Hamilton ( 126) with four for 8lb 10oz. Third was W Yates ( 107) with four for 8lb 4oz. A total of 37 fish caught.

Wishaw Angling Club and White Gates Angling Clubs visited and each caught 13 fish.

BROOMHILL COARSE AND FLY Nick Howe won the Wednesday match with 21lb. Gordy Taylor won the last Bonanza Qualifier with 24lb taking him into the BIG Money final along with Chris Mudge where 22 anglers will fish the two day event in a fortnight.

The new Wednesday match takes place every Wednesday until April 2018. Draw at 9.30am and only £ 10 all in.

Fly pond: Kenny Barrie caught big rainbow trout again, this time a cracking 16lb 2oz. Ryan Cougie is the latest Troutmaste­rs recipient.

Best flies: Suspended Buzzers, Yellow Owls and Black/ Green Rabbits.

SPRINGWATE­R Fly loch: Derek Russell c/ r 20, Ian Crossan c/ r eight, Scott Crossan c/ r four, Paul Dakers c/ r three, John Goddard two for 7lb, John Brown released a brownie of 10lb, John Wilson c/ r six, John Wilson jnr c/ r five, Mr Chapman four for 11lb 15oz.

Bait loch: Davie Kernachan six for 15lb 6oz, Tigger five for 9lb 12oz, Davie McKie two for 5lb 4oz, Mr Kerr four for 8lb 6oz, John Allerdyce four for 8lb 3oz, wee Rab three for 6lb.

Coarse loch still catching roach, rudd and bream. Carp still coming out. Biggest this week went to Russell Jardine with a mirror carp of 12lb.

The fishery will be closed on Monday, September 11 and reopen on Tuesday, September 12 around lunchtime. This is due to a family wedding. RAITH RESERVOIR Kevin Hiddleston won Prestwick Angling Club’s second leg of the open competitio­n on Sunday with a bag of 14lb 14oz.

Runner- up was Raymond McCutcheon with a bag of 11lb 1oz.
