Drunken threats to kill partner

A dad who downed two litres of vodka and beer a day threatened to kill his partner – after being told to shut up.

Arvidas Konstantinavicute, 29, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards his former partner Jurga Jasina.

The court heard how he had been drinking to excess in the weeks prior, and lashed out after his partner gave him a shove to encourage him to stop “talking non- stop”.

The Lithuanian flew into a rage at their Girvan home, threatening to punch her – then grabbed two kitchen knives and threatened to kill her.

His defence agent Quintin Muir said: “As you have heard this was during a period where he was drinking to a very significant extent.

“He has very limited recollection of the background but accepts the summary evidence and pled guilty straight away.”

After police arrived, the court heard how Konstantinavicute struggled with them and went on to kick a female officer.

Sheriff Mhairi Mactaggart said:“This conduct could very well result in a custodial sentence. Had there been anything of an analogous nature on your record that’s where you would be heading.”

Konstantinavicute, of Montgomerie Street in Girvan, was made subject to an order which will see him under supervision for the next 18 months. He will also attend treatment for his alcohol use.
