Star’s dance turn is talk of the town

Football legend Larsson spotted in Ayr nightclub

- Michael Reynolds

He’s one of the greatest footballers Scotland has ever seen, with moves that sent thousands of fans into raptures. But Henrik Larsson showed off some moves of a different kind when he was spotted dancing the MACARENA at Furys in Ayr last week. Social media was ablaze with rumours that the legendary Celtic frontman had been spotted in the Nile Court nightspot. And a video shared by club night promoter Ewan McVicar went viral on Friday when it showed the Swedish striker busting a move on the Furys floor. Club general manager Steven Muir said: “We were happy to welcome Henrik Larson and his friends to Furys Nightclub Ayr. “All were super friendly and the legend obliged in taking selfies with a lot of our customers. “A great night was had by everyone. He certainly added to our regular Thursday party.” Steven shared a picture of himself with Larsson, and joked how he had even asked for a “queue jump” for him and his friends. He was in town after playing a round of golf at Turnberry, and was spotted dining in the Tudor restaurant on Wednesday night. And he returned to the top of the town on Thursday to dine at the popular No. 22 Bar and Grill before heading for a night on the tiles.

Photos of Larsson posing with adoring fans in the town have been shared on the web, with many overjoyed to meet the Celtic legend on his Ayrshire trip.

And fans who missed him took to social media to share their disappointment.

Ronnie Simpson tagged a friend and said: “We’re going here every night until this happens again.”

And Monica McCrorie tweeted: “Still sad that Henrik Larsson was in Furys and I wasn’t there to witness it.”
