Music at tom’s final curtain

Music maestro Tom Jones died of a heart attack.

We told last week of the sudden death of the 68- yearold rock DJ.

It was two weeks before his body was discovered in his third floor flat in Ayr.

His younger brother Billy confirmed a post mortem revealed he died of heart failure.

The family are putting final touches together for the funeral this Friday ( April 20).

Billy said: “We have been inundated with messages of support and people rememberin­g Tom.

“He lived a great life, he loved music and he loved Ayr.”

Police had to break down the door of his flat at Riverside Place after he had not been seen for a while.

His funeral will be held at Masonhill Crematoriu­m at noon.

Billy added: “As you might expect we have been working on the sound track.

“The last song will be what has somehow became his theme tune ‘ Nellie the Elephant.

“I have no idea why he liked it so much, nobody has been able to tell us.”

The family request no flowers at the funeral and if possible donations to the British Heart Foundation.

Tom will belong remembered for bringing superstar acts to Ayr for decades, his rock nights at the Pavilion and his Westsound radio shows.
